Working Student – Electrical Test of Memory Materials and Integrated Chips

FMC is a memory company developing emerging Non-volatile Memory solutions for stand-alone and embedded applications using hafnium oxide based ferroelectric films. We are an innovative startup founded in 2016 as spin-off from TU Dresden/NaMLab that has grown to >30 people.

Your objectives as Working Student:

To pursue our technology development, FMC develop ferroelectric capacitor stacks in collaboration with academia, tool vendors and fabs. Devices range from simple capacitor structures via shortloop vehicles to integrated arrays on 300 mm wafers. The electrical tests are performed on state-of-the-art test equipment and analyzed using Python-based scripts. As a working student at FMC, your tasks will be:

  • Plan and schedule measurement tasks assigned to you
  • Prepare Python scripts and samples for tests on probe stations
  • Analyze the results and discuss next steps with your supervisor
  • Familiarize step by step with further test equipment and routines

We are looking for a student who wants to stay for 12 months or longer. As your experience level and skill set progresses, the topics can be expanded according to FMC’s focus and your interests, e.g. towards reliability or failure mode analysis. Moreover, we will be happy to offer opportunities for future project work or thesis topics.

Your profile:

  • Enrolled as a student: electrical engineering, physics, nanoelectronics or similar
  • First experience with electronic lab instruments (oscilloscopes, semiconductor tester, I-V/C-V meters probe stations…); Programming skill & will to use Python measurement scripts to operate the testers
  • Good technical comprehension, reliable and thorough worker with the motivation to grow with us
  • Team player fluent in English (B2) to efficiently communicate with our international team of engineers

Electronic Laboratory Technician

To strengthen our ambitious and international team, we are hiring asap an Electronic Laboratory Technician (m/f/d) for our headquarter in Dresden.

Your future job:

You will be responsible for receiving, storing, filing and preparing coupon and silicon-wafer samples to be electrically characterized via ATE (automated Test Equipment), planning test, testing, collecting and reporting results of their tests.

As your expertise grows you will be assigned more responsibilities pertaining the laboratory maintenance and equipment usage planning, as well as equipment maintenance and periodical/extraordinary maintenance and calibration/diagnostic.

You shall also become responsible of the Laboratory supplies and manage its inventory.

Your profile:

  • Completed education/training or study degree – preferably in the field of electrical engineering
  • Relevant professional experience in an electric lab would be a plus
  • Familiarity with laboratory instrumentation and computerized equipment.
  • Basic programming knowledge
  • Knowledge of electrical circuits would be a plus
  • Fluent English skills
  • Good technical comprehension and attention to detail and good organizational
  • Structured, process-oriented and methodical working style

Analog IC Design Engineer

Your future job:

  • Design and develop emerging NVM memory devices based on Hafnium Oxide technology
  • Support the design team in defining specifications and integrating the designed blocks into the memory
  • Responsible for the design of analog circuits for NVM memories: sense amps, decoders, bandgap, HV regulators, ADC, LDO, Charge Pumps, etc.
  • Run PVT circuit verification including parasitic extraction
  • Work closely with layout engineers to ensure block robustness and area optimization
  • Perform post silicon verification

Your profile:

  • Master Degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering or a similar study course
  • Experience in analog/mixed-signal CMOS IC design
  • NVM design experience would be a plus
  • Familiarity with industry-standard design and simulation tools (e.g., Cadence® DFII, Virtuoso, Spice simulator, Verilog-A)
  • Good knowledge of CMOS technology
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work in team

FeRAM / DRAM Design Engineer

Your future job:

  • Responsible for the design and development of emerging Ferroelectric Hafnium Oxide memory products
  • Define memory chip architecture with the best Power-Performance-Area tradeoff
  • Design and development of analog circuits for NVM memories such as sense amps, decoders, data path, etc.
  • Work with Product Engineers to implement the desired test features to guarantee proper device testability

Your profile:

  • M.Sc. / Ph.D. in electrical engineering
  • 10 years of experience in FeRAM or DRAM design

IC Layout Engineer

FMC is an innovative semiconductor startup driven by its ambitious, young team and our goal is to pave the way for next generation highly scaled NVM. We are hiring asap an IC Layout Engineer (m/f/d) for our headquarter in Dresden.

Your future job:

  • Layout of emerging NVM memories based on Hafnium Oxide technology using the most advanced sub-micron technologies
  • Design full custom layout for analog and mixed signal blocks for NVM memories
  • Provide pre-layout block size and schedule estimations
  • Apply best layout practice such as device matching, signal integrity, ESD and Latch Up prevention, etc.
  • Run DRC, LVS and parasitic extraction
  • Work with circuit designers to evaluate critical layout aspects of the block under design

Your profile:

  • Bachelor or Master degree in electrical engineering
  • 5 year experience in IC analog layout
  • In-depth knowledge of sub-micron technologies and related design rules
  • Familiarity with industry-standard design tools (e.g., Cadence® DFII, Virtuoso XL, Pegasus)
  • Good knowledge of sub-micron CMOS technology
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • Ability to work in team

Product Engineer

FMC was founded in 2016 as spin-off from Technical University Dresden. We are an innovative and ambitious semiconductor startup in the field of embedded non-volatile (eNVM) memory solutions with more than 30 employees.

With our novel and ground-breaking memory technology, based on ferroelectrics, we serve the needs of the rapidly growing IoT market for current and future technology nodes. Right now we’re looking for a full-time Product Engineer (m/f/div) to complement our international Technology Team in Dresden and/or Milan.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead product and test development of embedded non-volatile memory macros from the post-design stage through manufacturing release
  • Develop test solutions used in design validation and mass production
  • Develop hardware and software for device characterization and production test on automated
    test equipment (ATE)
  • Perform characterization and reliability qualification of new designs and provide statistical analysis of results
  • Design and develop hardware and software for stress tests in product qualification
  • Work on developing non-volatile memory macros

Your profile:

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Computer Science or similar studies
  • Familiarity with electronic lab instruments (scope / LSA) and software (e.g. Python, C++)
  • Knowledge of ferroelectric technology is a plus
  • Good technical comprehension
  • Strong problem solving ability
