For medical or aerospace products, radiation tolerance of memories is of utmost importance in order to avoid system failures in these special environments. Due to the fact that FMC’s FeFET memory is based on the physical effect of ferroelectricity, the memory is ultimately tolerant against radiation exposure. Since the binary information is stored in the position of an ion rather than by storage of electrons, information can be maintained even in the event of e.g. X-ray or cosmic-ray exposure.
